✅ Suggestion: Alternate binder mode

Message par KempJ »

This is my first forum post, so I'd like to take the opportunity to thank the team for making such a useful app for tracking my collection. And now, onto the post itself...

I use the Binders functionality to store details of what cards I have in my binders, as intended. But it has also been very useful for remembering what cards I've got stored in boxes and other containers, so I can locate them. There are a couple of enhancements I'd like to suggest for supporting this usage.

1) Either a toggle option on a binder or an option at the point of creating the binder to mark it as a box/bulk storage/whatever term for "not actually a binder". Doing it at the time of creation probably makes the most sense depending on how different the UI ends up being.

2) This is the key thing I'd like to have. When viewing a card in other areas of the app (for example, clicking on the card from a search), all the identical copies within one container get collapsed into a single row, as with the global collection entry. The plus/minus buttons could be there as well as the location within the container doesn't matter the way it does for binders. So instead of

Code : Tout sélectionner

Box 1
Normal
Mint Page 10 - #1

Box 1
Normal
Mint Page 10 - #2

Box 1
Normal
Mint Page 10 - #3
It would just be

Code : Tout sélectionner

Box 1
Normal
Mint - [3] +
3) The ability to transfer cards from non-binder containers into a binder the same way as from the global collection (i.e. when you click an empty slot, choose the cards, then have the +/- for transferring a quantity into the binder).

4) This one is less important for me, but would help somewhat when there's lot of duplicates. In the binder view, collapse identical cards to take up a single slot, perhaps with the duplicate count overlaid on the corner of the card, to the left of the process estimate, or wherever looks good.

As an addendum, being able to convert an existing binder to a non-binder would be great.

As a bonus (unrelated item): When looking at card details from a search, it'd be nice to show a total count just above the list of global collection and binders, to avoid having to manually add them up. Especially with the not-really-a-binder UI as it stands, that can be a lot of counting individual entries. I don't know how that count would be best presented given different conditions, versions, etc though.

Thanks for reading, keep up the great work 🙂

Hello, thanks for the detailed suggestion, and I’m glad to hear you’re finding the app useful for tracking your collection.

I understand the idea behind using binders to represent boxes or other storage containers, and why collapsing identical cards or transferring them in bulk would be helpful in that context. However, the binder feature was specifically designed to represent actual binders with fixed slots and positions. Because of that, many parts of the system rely on the concept of individual card placements.

Supporting a separate “box/bulk storage” behavior within binders would require a significant amount of additional logic and UI changes for a use case that isn’t the primary goal of the feature. For that reason, it’s not something I’m planning to implement. Sorry :/
